Francisco Lindor has spent the past month in the leadoff spot, where his ascent has coincided with the Mets’ best stretch offensively this season.

Maybe the shortstop needed the switch — he previously had been hitting in the No. 3 hole — to get him on track. Lindor isn’t so sure.

“I think it was going to happen,” Lindor told Sports+ this week. “Does [the change] help? Probably. But it was just a matter of cleaning some stuff in my mechanics and my process, and it continues to get better every day and then you get lucky at times. But I feel like I like it enough — I feel good and I feel comfortable.”

A notorious slow starter, Lindor owns a formidable .270/.347/.492 slash line in June with three homers and eight RBIs. Since his move into the leadoff spot on May 18, his OPS has risen from .630 to .730.
