There are no excuses, but sometimes there are explanations.

Why is the Giants offense not operating the way the front office and coaching staff envisioned?  Start with the medical blotter. Saquon Barkley is hurt. Kenny Golladay is hurt. Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton missed games. Rookie Kadarius Toney was hurt early and now is hurt again. Kyle Rudolph is making a slow return from foot surgery. Two starters on the offensive line, center Nick Gates and left guard Shane Lemieux, suffered season-ending injuries. And now left tackle Andrew Thomas, after taking a quantum step forward in Year 2, is on injured reserve and will miss at least the next three games. Two veteran backup additions (Zach Fulton, Joe Looney) capable of stepping in abruptly retired. Throw in sluggish development from Matt Peart at right tackle, some less-than-innovative schemes and play-calling and you have a less-than-inspiring product.

Now, about the defense…
