It is a good thing the Giants do not have to line up and play a game that counts for nearly five months. Their roster and depth chart have names in various places, but it is evident there is nothing close to enough talent to make anyone think this is a team capable of winning.
Some teams this time of year view the NFL Draft as an opportunity to simply fortify what already exists. The Giants are not one of those teams. They have nine selections, and desperately need their 2022 draft class to make an immediate, positive impact. It is not the healthiest way to head into a draft, but the Giants have been a sickly operation for five years running.
With slightly more than a week before the draft, here is a look at some of the strengths (not nearly enough) and some of the weaknesses (a whole bunch) on the Giants roster. After each position group, we provide a Urgency Factor of 1 to 5 🚨, quantifying how essential it is to improve this area in the draft (5 means “absolutely must be upgraded,” 1 means “it can wait”).
