With the most renowned player in Davidson history in the house, Jack Gibbs put on a Stephen Curry-like show.

Gibbs scored a career-high 41 points on 14-of-17 shooting with a career-high six 3-pointers as Davidson beat cross-county rival Charlotte 109-74 on Tuesday night.

Curry, the Golden State Warriors superstar and reigning NBA MVP who put Davidson on the college hoops map during the 2007-08 and 2008-09 seasons, watched with parents Dell and Sonya from prime seats in his home town of Charlotte. The Warriors play at the Hornets on Wednesday night.

Gibbs, a junior guard, actually hit his first 14 shots, and became the only Wildcat other than Curry to go for 40 since 1979.

Davidson improved to 5-0 ahead of Sunday’s game against No. 9 North Carolina.
