HILL COULD BE HURT
St. John’s star guard Daryll Hill has a bone spur in his left knee that is likely to be problematic all season and will probably require arthroscopic surgery at some point, a source close to the situation told The Post.
Hill missed the Red Storm’s 64-1 loss to Hofstra last Tuesday with what coach Norm Roberts described as a bruised knee. It is certainly possible that Hill bruised the knee in the Nov. 26 win over Niagara, and a fragment of bone came loose when he accidentally bumped knees with a Purple Eagles player.
Hill returned to action and led the Red Storm with 15 points in their 64-50 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday night at Carnesecca Arena. Roberts, the former Kansas assistant, attended last night’s Jimmy V Classic at the Garden and watched the Jayhawks lose, 70-67, to St. Joseph’s. He strongly denied that Hill has such an injury.
“That’s not what’s been told to me,” said Roberts. “He practiced today and he said he felt fine. He had a some fluid drained and he’s ready to play [tonight] against Stony Brook.”
