After all these years, with this sort of borough proximity, you’d think maybe the Mets’ bad luck might occasionally transfer to the traditionally successful Yankees. Or vice versa. 

But no, the pinstriped team with 27 World Series titles and 33 straight winning seasons continues to be unaffected by its unlucky New York neighbor. The Mets, apparently, are still going to Met.

Mets pitching star Clay Holmes, the former Yankee, is out a “long time” (early estimate: three-plus months) after suffering a broken leg Friday on a 111.1 mph comebacker off the bat of Yankees rookie Spencer Jones. 

Meantime, Yankees ace Cam Schlittler, who’s been hit by batted balls four times in his past three starts, shrugged off all of them.
