NFL teams will reduce their rosters from 80 players to 53 by Tuesday, and then will look to claim players released by other teams.
For years, players the Jets have cut have disappeared into oblivion. It is hard to think of many Jets cuts who went on to do anything anywhere else (Danny Woodhead might be the last, back in 2010).
That could change this year. It is proof that the Jets roster is better than it has been in quite some time.
General manager Joe Douglas is going to have to cut some players who will wind up on other teams. It has already happened this summer. Safety Jovante Moffatt went to the Browns, edge rusher Hamilcar Rashed went to the Steelers and guard Derrick Kelly was claimed by the Saints after they had been released by the Jets.
