Malachi Corley’s NFL career began with a nod to Hollywood, but it has hardly gone according to script.

Before the second day of the 2024 NFL Draft, Jets coach Robert Saleh texted general manager Joe Douglas a picture of Corley and the phrase, “No matter what.” It was a nod to the movie “Draft Day.”

The Jets landed Corley out of Western Kentucky in the third round, but things quickly turned sour in his rookie year.

By the time they got to Week 1, the Jets coaches did not trust Corley, and he played just 83 offensive snaps over nine games. He was inactive despite being healthy five times. He finished the year with three catches for 16 yards and two rushes for 26 yards. His most memorable moment was a mistake, dropping the ball just shy of scoring his first touchdown against the Texans.
