Mykael Wright is a Midwestener, at heart, an Arizona transplant who only recently began calling Brooklyn home. His daughters are grown. His son, 14, moved cross-country with him and his wife after Wright — a longtime teacher — was accepted at NYU, where he is earning his master’s degree in public administration.

He works two part-time jobs. The hours are flexible. They have to be.

Otherwise, Wright, 42, couldn’t be at Barclays Center on a Wednesday morning, matching up with Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones. For more than a decade, the 6-foot-7 former Missouri forward has been helping the world’s best women’s basketball players by impersonating them, now, as a member of the Liberty’s all-male practice squad.

“I think you have to have a certain level of pride to be out here, but also humility,” said Wright, who previously practiced with the Phoenix Mercury. “I’m not gonna get a 10-day contract. No one’s gonna see me and say, ‘Hey, you should play in the NBA.’ I’m just doing it for the love of the game.
