Howard David, the Jets’ radio play-by-play voice since 1998, has asked out of that position to become the morning drive host on a Miami all-sports station, WQAM.
David, with at least a year left on his contract, must receive permission from rights-holder MSG Network. The Jets are heard over WABC through a time-buy. Candidates to replace David would include Spencer Ross, Mike Breen and Bob Wischusen.
Previous Jets’ radio play-by-play voices, in chronological order, were Bob Murphy, Merle Harmon, Marty Glickman, Ross, Steve Albert, Charley Steiner, Glickman (again), Paul Olden and Ian Eagle. Dave Jennings has been the analyst since 1988.
