Imagine a knight who goes on a mission to rescue a princess only to discover that the fire-breathing dragon is already slayed, there is a staircase leading to the room at the top of the tower and she is awake on the bed with her bags packed. 

The lack of obstacles kind of ruins the suspense of the fairy tale, right?

In this analogy for the journey to a Super Bowl, the Bills are the knight whose path might be cleared by their three main nemeses over the past five years all missing the AFC playoffs. If the season ended today, the Chiefs (4-0 against the Bills in the playoffs since 2020), Ravens (0-2) and Bengals (1-0) all would be eliminated without Buffalo doing any of the dirty work.

“Teams that have given them trouble or been the big dogs in the AFC most likely won’t be there,” ESPN NFL analyst Jeff Saturday, a former All-Pro center and interim head coach for the Colts, told The Post. “Your biggest obstacle is probably in your own division, and you are about to go face them [Patriots] this week at their place, which you’ll probably have to do again to get to the Super Bowl.”
