Jerry Bailey, who is dominating the jockey standings with 52 victories, a winning percentage of 40 and an in-the-money percentage of 72, took off all his mounts yesterday and likely will miss his riding engagements today due to a kidney stone.

“The kidney stone is being dissolved right now but he is still uncomfortable,” his agent Ron Anderson said. “He said he might be able to ride tomorrow, but I think that is unlikely. I would expect him to resume riding on Friday.”

Because of the holiday schedule, Belmont Park is closed tomorrow and Thursday.

Heberto Castillo Jr. has withdrawn his appeal for a 10-day suspension from his disqualification aboard Lyre in the ninth race April 29. He will serve the suspension starting tomorrow through July 14.

2ND RACE – Race was lacking speed so Home On the Hill went to front and set pace with comfortable fractions. She looked good around turn but then favored Rich Emotions made move to the lead and drew away for victory. Rich Emotions, winning her third straight, was very popular at claim box, with six trainers putting in bid.

3RD RACE – Wind Tunnel was expected to battle for early lead but broke in air and bumped with Dream for a Moment. She trailed field and never got involved. Tropical Punch made three-wide move on turn to gain lead and drew off. Duke’s Cherokee was late scratch at gate.

5TH RACE – Whirley rated off pace while saving ground. On turn, he was ready to run but was stuck behind wall of horses. At top of stretch he was still looking for room and angled out slightly to try to get clear. He found some room and was running alongside Good Til Canceled, but then encountered more traffic with City Hall Slew in front of him. He had to check again and was stuck behind City Hall Slew as Good Til Canceled caught City Hall Slew at wire.

7TH RACE – Willowick Lad saved ground early while trailing. He moved up on turn but had to angle outside to get clear. Once he got to outside, he unleashed strong closing kick and finished well to be second. Ettrick saved ground throughout while stalking pace. He was bottled up with nowhere to go and once he had room to run, he came up empty.

9TH RACE – Monologue showed improved speed and stalked pace set by Beat the Gate Tony. He was ready to run but was stuck behind pacesetter around turn. At top of stretch, Monologue was angling outside but then went back to rail. He couldn’t make up any ground on Beat the Gate Tony and Ruthie’s Double, who chased Beat the Gate Tony throughout and held second.
