SAN FRANCISCO — Mikal Bridges showed something Wednesday that we hadn’t seen too often since the Knicks emptied their asset chest to acquire him.

He showed aggression. He showed resolve. He showed guts.

The spotlight was firmly placed on Bridges after his morning comments about Tom Thibodeau’s minutes distribution, an interview that turned downright perplexing after the coach said they never actually held the conversation that the player said occurred.

Bridges, coming from under-the-radar franchises in Brooklyn and Phoenix, doesn’t strike me as media savvy or interested in that element of the business. Perhaps he didn’t realize the magnitude of his words, unaware they’d carry national news cycles in the context of ceaseless accusations — mostly unfair and lazy — that Thibodeau grinds his players to their last menisci.
