The Twin Towers alignment, perhaps the most intriguing of any Knicks two-man lineup because of its uniqueness, remains “a work in progress,” according to Tom Thibodeau, but with statistical reasons to feel good about the direction.
And not in the way you’d expect.
In the small sample size of just six games and 33 total minutes before the Knicks’ 128-113 win over the Mavericks, Karl-Anthony Towns — who had a triple-double in the victory over Dallas — and Mitchell Robinson had produced an impressive plus-25.1 net rating together, according to NBA.com.
That’s because the Knicks were scoring at a rate of 143.9 points per 100 possessions with those two on the court — a ridiculous number compared to the team’s offensive rating of 117.4 for the season.
