On Monday, president of baseball operations David Stearns said he believes the Mets will “get to the point” when the club has confidence in placing Luisangel Acuña in center field.

Acuña himself already has reached that point.

Would he be comfortable if manager Carlos Mendoza asked him to start in center tomorrow?

“Yes, even today if they need me,” Acuña said through interpreter Alan Suriel before the Mets played the Phillies at Citi Field on Tuesday.
