Mark Canha enjoyed a successful first season with the Mets after arriving last winter from Oakland on a two-year contract worth $26.5 million.

The veteran outfielder played 140 games, and posted a .266/.367/.403 slash line with 13 homers and 61 RBIs. He also led the major leagues with 28 hit by pitches for a team that won 101 games before it was eliminated from the postseason by the Padres in the wild-card round.

Post Sports+ caught up with Canha, who last week departed New York with his family and who already has begun offseason workouts in Arizona. Canha discussed his love for playing in New York and provided a few clues on where the team could be headed with key potential free agents.

Now that you have had some time to unwind and reflect on the season, how did you like your first year in New York?
