While it was one of the better fan promotions, it was also a sad reminder that it’s been 40 years since the Mets last won a World Series. That’s a long time for any team, but especially for a team in the biggest market in baseball.

The Cohen Mets are into this team for about $375 million, as the Amazin’s hope to erase the memory of the debacle of 2025 with several big winter bets that transformed a roster they believed had grown stale.
