One exchange at Media Day in Brooklyn on Monday perfectly summed up how the days of the Knicks being the basketball circus in town and the Nets being little more than a local afterthought clearly are over.
While various players on the Knicks were speaking mostly about mundane basketball topics at their practice facility in Tarrytown, talk show legend David Letterman sat in the press gallery as various Nets came to the podium at Barclays Center for interviews one day before training camp and their championship quest officially commences Tuesday in La Jolla, Calif.
The five-time Emmy winner engaged in a mostly cringe-worthy Q&A with Nets star Kevin Durant, who ended the brief back and forth by shaking his head and saying into the microphone: “They’ll let anybody in here.”
