Though we can tell from TV advertising that Thanksgiving has this year been defunded, in favor of early Christmas sales, that doesn’t prevent me from wishing you a happy Thanksgiving — at least for those who still choose to observe this cherished family despite roughly 10 consecutive hours of NFL games.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’ll be home for Christmas. Chestnuts roasting by an open fire. We shall overcome.
