JETS REPORT CARD
QUARTERBACKS: B+
Chad Pennington (15-of-24, 178 yards, 1 TD) wasn’t as accurate as usual, but he made big plays when they needed to be made.
RUNNING BACKS: A
Curtis Martin (21-120 yards, 1 TD) looked as energetic and powerful as he has all season. And LaMont Jordan (13-27, 1 TD) provided solid relief.
WIDE RECEIVERS: A
Laveranues Coles (7-78, 1 TD) made a few spectacular catches. Wayne Chrebet (1-15) caught a key third-down pass to keep a drive alive.
TIGHT ENDS: A
Anthony Becht (2-25 receiving) blocked in the run game very well.
OFFENSIVE LINE: A
Gaping holes were burst open for Martin to run through. Maligned LG J.P. Machado had a particularly good game. LT Jason Fabini allowed a sack that took the team out of FG range.
DEFENSIVE LINE: B+
DE John Abraham (five tackles) was active stopping the run, as was NT Jason Ferguson. DT Josh Evans had a sack and a fumble recovery.
LINEBACKERS: B+
Sam Cowart led with eight tackles; Mo Lewis also had eight, a half-sack and a forced fumble. Bills RB Travis Henry was held to 83 rushing yards.
SECONDARY: A
Terrific game for SS Sam Garnes, who had an INT and a half-sack. CB Aaron Beasley had a key INT and seven tackles. Holding Eric Moulds and Peerless Price to 8-73 was key to the win.
SPECIAL TEAMS: A
Chad Morton averaged 35.3 yards on three kick returns. Santana Moss returned one punt for 32 yards.
KICKING GAME: B
K John Hall made a 23-yard FG and missed a 45-yarder. P Matt Turk averaged 37.5 yards.
COACHING: A
Herman Edwards has the team running like a well-oiled machine. Ted Cottrell has his defense allowing fewer than two TDs a game. Paul Hackett is in a groove with Pennington.
