OAKMONT, Pa. — Of course, J.J. Spaun was a worthy story of perseverance, and he sure as hell earned the 125th U.S. Open victory in stunning fashion Sunday at Oakmont.
But the winner of this U.S. Open was, unequivocally, Oakmont.
The question is: Were you, the golfing viewers, winners, too?
Before Spaun turned an otherwise ho-hum tournament upside down in the final 30 minutes with birdies on his final two holes to capture the win of his life, did you find it enjoyable watching player after player cry U-N-C-L-E all week?
