Most weeks, Craig Jacoby’s thoughts revolved around what plays to run and which players would start on his team. But with his Poly Prep football team scheduled to play Benedictine H.S. in Richmond, Va., tomorrow, Jacoby found his mind elsewhere.

That’s why the Blue Devils won’t be making the trip this weekend to the Virginia school located about 45 minutes south of where a victim was shot by the sniper who has the Washington, D.C., area on alert.

“There were people [in the school] who said we can’t give in to this kind of thing,” Jacoby said. “But as a team, we weren’t comfortable going down there and having to constantly look over our shoulders.”

The game, however, is not necessarily going to be canceled. Jacoby said there was a “remote possibility” that Benedictine might agree to travel to New York and play either tomorrow or Sunday.
