Last night’s Mets-Cardinals game, the first of a three-game set, was rained out and rescheduled as part of a doubleheader tomorrow.

Kenny Rogers (2-0), whose 12-5 win in San Francisco was the Mets’ first complete game of the season, will pitch today at 1:15 p.m. against the Cardinals’ Kent Mercker (6-4). Rookie Octavio Dotel (4-1) will likely start the first game of tomorrow’s doubleheader at 12:10 p.m. against Darren Oliver (7-8), and last night’s scheduled starter Orel Hershiser (12-9) will pitch the second game against Garrett Stephenson (3-0).

Manager Bobby Valentine said Hershiser wasn’t being brought back to pitch today “because he warmed up [last night] and came out ready to pitch. We’ll let him recover a little before we send him back out there.”

Valentine also said that outfielder Roger Cedeno, out with an injured right arm, isn’t expected to return until tomorrow’s doubleheader.
