This exhibition was more like exploitation.

Overhwelming an undermanned New Jersey squad with 49 shots, the Rangers completed their preseason home-and-home sweep of the Devils on Henrik Lundqvist’s 2-0 shutout at the Garden last night.

The Rangers blitzed Scott Clemmensen in the first, outshooting the Devils 21-1 and taking the lead on Matt Cullen’s right wing rush around David Hale. Wearing No. 5 as a forward, a la Boom-Boom Geoffrion, Cullen put a shortside forehand over Clemmensen’s glove.

Petr Prucha doubled the Ranger lead in the second, before Frank Doyle replaced Clemmensen. Doyle has yet to yield a goal in three preseason appearances. Lundqvist went the distance for the 2-0 Rangers, facing 22 shots from a Devils (1-2) squad whose biggest star was Sergei Brylin.
