PROVIDENCE, R.I. — RJ Luis Jr. showed up as John Starks in Game 7 of the NBA Finals in Houston, and Rick Pitino decided he didn’t need him for the last five minutes of a St. John’s season that ended in tears after all the cheers.

Pat Riley wouldn’t pull the plug on Starks’ 2-for-18 nightmare.

Pitino — the bitter 75-66 loser to John Calipari and Arkansas at Amica Mutual Pavilion — pulled the plug on Luis’ 3-for-17, 0-for-3 nightmare that was so unbecoming of the Big East Player of the Year.

“I let my teammates down,” Luis said.
