This is Miroslav Satan’s second chance at his old team, this time with added emphasis.

Satan failed to score against his former team in his first game with the Islanders on opening night in Buffalo, and Sabre coach Lindy Ruff admitted he had wanted to keep the sniper off the scoreboard.

This time, however, Satan has five goals in five games as the Isles play host to the Sabres. The Isles and Satan will be trying to better their 0-for-11 power play showing in Thursday’s 3-1 loss at the Garden, their first defeat in three games against the Rangers in nine nights.

There may be other residue from the Isles’ 6-4 loss in Buffalo Oct. 5. Isles’ goalie Rick DiPietro joined in a fray between teammate Chris Campoli and Sabres’ Paul Gaustad and exchanged words with Sabres goalie Ryan Miller. . . . Isles returned RW Kevin Colley to the minors.
