A change in the official scoring of Sunday’s Eagles-Redskins game may have changed the outcome of some of last week’s fantasy matchups. The play: QB Donovan McNabb “completes” a pass of about 18 yards to WR Reggie Brown, who then bobbled the ball away. It is snagged in mid-air by RB Correll Buckhalter, who then scampered the remaining 37 yards for a TD.

The change: It was later ruled that Brown never caught the pass. Buckhalter caught what essentially was a deflection.

The result: Instead of an 18-yard completion to Brown, then a “fumble” return by Buckhalter, the play is now a 55-yard completion and TD – McNabb to Buckhalter. This adds a second TD on the day for McNabb, an additional 37 yards to his passing totals, and bonus points for a TD over 40 yards (if your league awards such bonuses).

If you actually started Buckhalter, you gained an additional 18 yards receiving plus possible bonus points for a long TD. But the reality is, if you started Buckhalter, your team is likely so bad, it’s not going to matter in the long run.
