Last time I looked an owner can express a thought about his team. Hank’s not being cranky, he’s just showing interest in the way things are going for the Yankees.

Bosses put in their two cents all the time in any line of work, that’s why they’re bosses.

And when you are the Son of Boss, your opinion matters.

Over here in Where’s Kernanville, they are doing a little construction. The tiny house we’ve been living in the last 10 years is getting a little bit bigger. The two guys doing the construction are great guys and they really know their craft, but if I decide I want something to move along a little faster than originally planned, I can express that thought and if it can be done, great, everybody’s happy. We’re all on the same page.

If it can’t be done, everybody’s still on the same page. It just can’t be done right now.

That’s what’s going on with the Yankees, They are under construction, especially the pitching staff and Hank is expressing his opinion like bosses do.

Hank Steinbrenner is right, the Yankees need to get Joba Chamberlain into the rotation as quickly as possible. The eighth inning is great work for Joba, if the Yankees have a 3-2 lead, but if they are trailing 5-3, what good is it to have Joba the Setup Man. Then he’s just sitting around like Jabba the Hutt.

If Joba is to be the Yankees Josh Beckett someday, he has to get out of the bullpen and into the rotation as quickly as possible.

Here were a few other thoughts from Hank from from our conversation yesterday. He noted that Kyle Farnsworth did not deserve a three-game suspension for throwing behind Manny Ramirez’ head and praised Ramirez, saying, “Manny handled it with great class.’’

Steinbrenner is happy with the job Farnsworth is doing as well as Brian Bruney and the rest of the bullpen. The Yankees, he said, have options for others to take over the eighth-inning role.

As for Mike Mussina, he said he has faith in Mussina and that the right-hander is a smart pitcher who must change his style now that his fastball is not what it used to be.

Steinbrenner praised the makeup of the team, saying, “I’m very proud, we got a great bunch of guys, now we just have to get it done on the field.’’

They have to get it done in the rotation to get it done on the field. It’s that simple.
