SPORTS CLUB GETS $25M
The Reebok Club and six other upscale sports clubs are about to get a whole lot glitzier.
Real estate developer Millennium Partners, which owns Reebok and five Sports Club/LA properties, plans to invest $25 million to beef up amenities, including the creation of mind/body centers and the expansion of the yoga and Pilates programs.
The Sports Club Company, which owns the Sports Club/LA facility in Rockefeller Center, is investing $1 million in that club.
Each club will also be outfitted with new resistance and cardiovascular equipment as well as flat-screen TVs.
The Reebok Club on Manhattan’s Upper West Side and the Sports Club/LA on the Upper East Side are the first clubs to be refitted, followed by Sports Club/LA locations in Washington, D.C., Miami, Boston and San Francisco.
In October, Millennium agreed to acquire the six clubs for $65 million from the Sports Club Company, which retained the Sports Club/LA in Rockefeller Center.
