What a week it’s been for Rutgers football. The Scarlet Knights got their first victory of the season in a shocking upset of Syracuse and Monday night, their former quarterback, Ray Lucas, started and helped win a game for the Jets. The Rutgers roll continued yesterday when another former player, cornerback Reggie Stephens, was signed by the Giants to their practice squad.

Stephens replaces Emmanuel McDaniel, who was added to the roster when rookie Andre Weathers was lost for the season with a knee injury. The 5-9, 189-pound Stephens, the MVP at Rutgers in 1998, arrived at training camp with the Giants this past summer as a rookie free agent and was impressive from the start. He might have made the team if not for a leg injury that led to him being waived Sept. 5 in an injury settlement.
