Called upon in the seventh inning of a game the Mets led by two runs — one of those high-leverage situations that the Mets had avoided recently with the struggling flamethrower — Helsley responded with his third consecutive scoreless outing. 

It took 15 pitches — mostly sliders while mixing in a fastball that maxed out at 100.1 mph — but the righty induced a ground out from Jorge Alfaro, used a dotted slider to freeze Jacob Young and got James Wood to line out to right.
