The controversial question is worth asking as the crosstown rivals get set to clash Tuesday night in the opener of their two-game Subway Series at Citi Field (7:10 p.m. ET, YES, SNY, TBS).

They enter the series with dramatically different momentum — the Mets (37-39) have won 13 of their past 17 games to surge within 1.5 games of a National League wild-card spot while the Yankees (52-28) have lost three straight series and four of their past five.

But zoom out and their records remain far apart.
