What hath greed wrought!?

Well, to those who once recognized and cherished the sport in our sports, what hasn’t it wrought? Or bought?

Not that it’s any longer the business of gambling-addicted sports TV, but in the last week — just six of its seven days — two college game-fixing scandals and one NBA gambling calamity have erupted. Yep, erupted, exploded — in near silence.

Both coasts and in between are now covered. While Temple University’s investigation has still not concluded how deeply its players were involved in losing three specific home games, now Fresno State and the University of New Orleans have suspended or dismissed a total of seven men’s players over smoke-and-fire gambling suspicions.
