The Giants are going to get a turn at bat with John Harbaugh.

It seemed as if the Harbaugh Sweepstakes opened up Monday when the Falcons reported they conducted an interview with him. That was not the case. In actuality, the interaction was a phone conversation between Harbaugh and Matt Ryan, the new Falcons president of football.

This was the Falcons playing catch-up. Harbaugh has been in contact with all seven teams — aside from the Ravens — with head coach openings, and he is in the process of narrowing his list to determine which teams will be granted an in-person interview, either at the team facility or at an off-site location.

Harbaugh and Giants general manager Joe Schoen spoke for about 30 minutes Thursday, and Harbaugh spoke with other general managers that day as well.
