It’s the first thing you see when you walk into the Knicks locker room.

On the door there is a “Standard of a Champion” contract signed by every player and coach. The very first demand centers around sacrifice.

“My willingness to sacrifice at the highest level for the team, on and off the floor,” the contract begins, “will represent my dedication to our collective objective.”

Talk of sacrifice isn’t particularly unique. Pretty much every coach preaches it. It is a cliché that is repeated across the league.
