The Yankees had to call up Jasson Dominguez. After all the nonsense that there was no place for him to play, they had to face this reality:

• There was a place to play him, obviously, because Alex Verdugo has arguably been the worst regularly used player in the majors, not for one month or two, but for three.

And thus:

• If there were not a place for Dominguez to play, then the Yankees would be saying a lot more about Dominguez than Verdugo. Because you can’t keep saying you love Dominguez as a prospect and that he is ready to help now and then not bring him up in this scenario and actually have people trust that you believe in him.
