General manager Joe Douglas was ordered to clean out his office on Tuesday, making him a second key figure in the Jets hierarchy fired in the past six weeks.

Douglas joins head coach Robert Saleh, fired after the first five games, on a crowded and growing roster of ex-Jets.

With six games remaining in this season of historic underachievement, the offices of the two most significant figures inside the Florham Park facility are vacant, with many more to come as the organization is dismantled.

The saddest news of all for Jets fans who deserve so much more is this: Woody Johnson did not fire himself.
