Embattled golf superstar Tiger Woods has reportedly drowned his sorrows by reportedly buying a custom-designed boat and naming it “Solitude” as a peace offering to his wife.
Aptly named after his fight with wife Elin Nordegren on Thanksgiving night after she discovered he was having an affair, People magazine’s Web site reported today that the 61-foot boat is a present to her.
“Solitude is a dive boat and was designed for Elin, who loves the sport,” a source told People.
Nordegren and Woods are both avid divers and did a lot of it before his admission that he cheated on her.
“Tiger and Elin have continued diving when they are out for relaxation,” said the source. “And they talked about having a boat that would be mainly for this purpose.”
The boat — which is estimated to cost anywhere between $2 to $3 million — is smaller than his 150-foot yacht “Privacy” and is currently docked in Florida at the Pirate’s Cove Resort and Marina, less than 10 minutes from his new Jupiter Island home.
Woods recently left a sex rehab clinic and is reportedly in the midst of trying to repair his marriage.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Nordegren, 30, has given Woods six months to prove he won’t cheat on her — for what would be the umpteenth time — in order to save their troubled marriage.
Elin, who picked up Tiger last week as he left the clinic — “has been convinced there is hope for the marriage,” a close friend of the wife told Britain’s Sunday Mirror newspaper.
“The doctors told her she shouldn’t underestimate Tiger’s ability to learn new coping skills and grow as a person. And they say he has made remarkable progress,” the friend said.
Elin visited Woods during his recent stint at the Gentle Path treatment center in Hattiesburg and participated in counseling sessions with him.
“It is so hard for Elin,” the Swedish stunner’s friend told the Mirror. “The reality is there is still a lot of love left for Tiger. That’s why she is willing to give him another chance.
“She would hate herself if she just gave up on him. But one thing is for sure,” warned the pal. “Elin won’t be duped twice.”
Woods, 34, had affairs with up to a dozen or more women during his marriage to Elin.
