Week 5 Lineup help
Trying to separate yourself from the pack? Keep pace with your league leaders? Climb back into contention?
Hereâs some guys who could help you this week:
Startâem
Joseph Addai (RB) Colts, vs. Titans â Colts should have sizeable lead most of the game, meaning theyâll be running a lot. Plus, the Titans have the leagueâs worst run defense (177 yards/game) and have allowed 8 rushing TDs.
Maurice Jones-Drew (RB) Jaguars, vs. Jets â Jags defense is likely to keep Jets offense off the field for much of the game. As Jets wear down, run becomes easier. Plus, J-E-T-S squad has yielded eight rushing scores in four games.
Deuce McAllister (RB) Saints, vs. Buccaneers â Bucs have been surprisingly weak vs. run â probably because of a lack of offense, so theyâre on the field a lot. They are also vulnerable to burly backs. This helps Deuce much more than backfield mate Reggie Bush. Tampa still has some speed on defense, so Reggieâs elusiveness will be somewhat neutralized.
Chris Brown (RB) Titans, at Colts â This is a bit more of a gamble. Colts are weak vs. run, so if the Titans can stay in the game, Brown could produce marquee points. But they do use him in the passing game as well, so all is not lost if Tennessee falls behind early.
Marcus Robinson / Troy Williamson (WRs) Vikings, vs. Lions â A soft breeze presents more resistance than the Lions pass defense.
Sitâem
Willis McGahee (RB) Bills, at Bears â He might be the leagueâs leading rusher, but think twice about starting him this week if you have another worthwhile option.
Drew Bledsoe (QB) Cowboys, at Eagles â Harsh environment, jazzed up crowd, and a defense that sacks the QB more frequently than anyone outside of Baltimore. A recipe for disaster for the easily frazzled Bledsoe. This does not mean WR Terrell Owens wonât get his catches, but the Eagles secondary will get its fair share, too.
Larry Fitzgerald / Anquan Boldin (WRs) Cardinals, vs. Chiefs â The Chiefs defense has been surprisingly solid. Matt Leinart is making his first NFL start, with a Swiss-cheese offensive line, against the aforementioned defense. We donât expect good results. If he spends most of the day on his back or running for his life, heâs going to have a hard time completing passes to his Pro Bowl wideouts. Did we mention the Chiefs havenât allowed a passing TD?
