Aaron Glenn did not even make it to Halloween before facing his first crisis as Jets coach.

Glenn’s team is 0-7 and has shown the firepower of a water gun. It has gone two weeks without any touchdowns and six weeks without a touchdown in the first half.

So, Glenn is now pondering a quarterback change from Justin Fields to Tyrod Taylor. All logic points to Glenn turning to Taylor, the 36-year-old veteran journeyman, but Glenn was not ready to announce that Wednesday, citing a “competitive advantage” by keeping the Bengals guessing about Sunday. I’m sure Cincinnati defensive coordinator Al Golden is going to lose sleep. This is not exactly Steve Young or Joe Montana.

Switching quarterbacks is one of the levers a desperate coach can pull to try to save a season, and all indications are that Glenn is pulling it. Jets fans have seen this move more times than they can count through the years. It rarely actually works, but sometimes it can provide a spark for a lifeless team.
