The last time things went wayward, the Rangers went through three days of remedial work on the ice and in the classroom in which they were able to reset their game and their attitude.
But now the Blueshirts are going to have to find a different way out of it.
Let’s return to the week of Nov. 8. The Rangers had stumbled home from a trip in which they had blown a two-goal lead in Vancouver and a three-goal lead in Edmonton to lose both games in overtime before getting blown out in Calgary. They then defeated the Panthers at the Garden 4-3, propped up entirely by Igor Shesterkin in a match in which they were out-attempted at even strength, 75-23, and Florida repeatedly took liberties with the goaltender without a response.
