TAMPA — The Yankees announced the extension they’d been signaling since spring’s start for manager Aaron Boone, and everyone around here is happy he’ll be in his place in the dugout for two more years, through 2027.

That goes for scouts, execs, players, higher-ups, assorted club personnel — and even writers, too.

The fans might be mixed on this, but if you know Boone, it’s impossible not to like him.

Boone is at least a solid all-around manager, which is undeniable after seven mostly fine seasons, six playoff teams, three AL East titles, a World Series appearance and a stellar .584 regular-season winning percentage, which ranks among the all-time best.
