It’s been a long time since the Yankees had a slugging first baseman who hit from the left side, but that’s what they have in Anthony Rizzo.

What once seemed as much a part of the Yankees as the pinstripes — dating back to Lou Gehrig’s era at first base in The Bronx — had become something of a rarity in recent years.

Following Mark Teixeira’s exit after the 2016 season, the Yankees were caught in a revolving door at the position.
