When the high of the Yankees re-signing Aaron Judge last week began to wear off, the realization soon followed that the roster was still almost exactly the same as the one that got swept by the Astros in the ALCS.

Not anymore.

Carlos Rodon joined the fold on Thursday night, agreeing to a six-year, $162 million contract with the Yankees that made an already strong rotation even better.

As the Yankees once again seek to close the gap with the Astros, signing Rodon — on top of bringing back Judge on a nine-year, $360 million contract — is the kind of move that can get them even closer as long as Rodon continues his upward trajectory of the last two years and stays healthy.
