The Giants know far more about themselves now than they did last week. That knowledge comes from playing their first preseason game.

The Giants will learn a great deal more this week as they conduct two joint practices with the Jets.

Working against a different team always ramps up the competition and tests a roster more intensely than the traditional training-camp practice sessions.

There was plenty to be encouraged about as the Giants defeated the Bills, 34-25, in Buffalo. Sure, winning is nice, but it’s largely irrelevant at this time of year. No one pays too much attention to scores and victories in the summer, but it is worth noting that the Giants scored their most points in a preseason game since 2017.
