The info: Karl Ravech is positioned to potentially become the new “Sunday Night Baseball” play-by-player, but it depends on whether Alex Rodriguez will accept him as his partner.

I reported last week that ESPN wants A-Rod to return. The two sides have to agree to a new contract. With Matt Vasgersiandeciding to not seek a second term after being A-Rod’s running mate for four years, Ravech is one of the contenders.

Let’s be clear: We are not saying Ravech is going to get the job. We are saying he is positioned to potentially receive it. Longtime top ESPN executive Norby Williamson is a big fan of Ravech. Ultimately, it will be Williamson and ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro’s decision.
