PORT ST. LUCIE — The Mets have the same belief about Bo Bichette they did when they signed him to slide over from shortstop to third base: They think he can do it.

But they still don’t know for sure, as even Carlos Mendoza acknowledged Tuesday that the former Blue Jay has barely been tested at his new position through the early portion of spring training.

Bichette continues to put in the work — including with the hands-on Mendoza — and got the start there again against Team Nicaragua in an exhibition game at Clover Park.

“Third base is a challenge, for sure,’’ said Bichette, who doubled in a 6-3 win. “I’m learning something new, but I have a good understanding of the growing pains, but I also understand I have the ability to play the position.”
