Tuesday was the first day for NFL teams to designate players for the franchise or transition tag, and the Giants are expected to sit this cycle out.

There is nothing particularly desirable about a team tagging a player, but that the Giants have 22 impending unrestricted free agents and none of them is a logical candidate to even be considered to get tagged shows just how weak their roster is.
