President Clinton stuck around for the men’s semis yesterday but bolted during the 90-minute rain delay that preceded the Venus Williams-Lindsay Davenport Final.

Later, in a phone call, Williams gave Clinton an earful about leaving. “What happened, where’d you go?” Venus asked.

“I waited as long as I could but I had to go home and have dinner with Hillary,” Clinton replied. Venus shot back, “I wanted to have dinner too.”

Venus also gave Clinton grief about the Millennium Summit: “We suffered through traffic while you guys shot straight through.”
