LIU’s Nicki Winston was the winner last night of the annual Michelle Antoinette Hamdan Memorial Award for displaying extraordinary character in the face of adversity.

The award is given annually in honor of the late daughter of Said Hamdan, the Knicks assistant trainer.

Winston played for LIU’s women’s basketball team the entire season while battling a cartilage tear behind her left kneecap.
